GOP Primary candidate went on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in a last ditch effort to reinvigorate her campaign. Haley made swipes at Donald Trump and Biden for their age, a fact that she has argued sets her apart from her competitors.

The South Carolina primary is February 24th, which Haley has to win if she expects to be considered a serious candidate and not just a spoiler. Her track record against Trump so far has not produced a single victory, but Democrats could see her as a wedge to give Biden an edge. NPR reports:

Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley has made a cameo appearance on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” comedy show, making jibes at Donald Trump over his age and mental competency.

The former South Carolina governor has been campaigning ahead of her home state’s Republican primary later this month, in an effort to close the gap in polling between herself and former President Trump.

During the show, liberal audience members brought up her gaffe about slavery being the cause of the Civil War. Trump did highlight that slavery was the main cause of the Civil War, knowing that most Americans have put this question behind them and are looking to the future. The Hill says:

Haley was put under the spotlight when an audience member, played by actor Ayo Edeberi, asked the White House hopeful, “I was just curious, what would you say was the main cause of the Civil War, um, and do you think it starts with an ‘s’ and ends with a ‘lavery?’”

“Yep, I probably should have said that at the time,” Haley responded, in reference to the controversy she faced in December after she failed to mention slavery as the cause of the Civil War.

While Haley has conservative credentials, this move by NBC is clearly meant to undermine Trump. If Haley were to win by the primary by some miracle, they would quickly turn against her in favor of the Democrat candidate.
