The GOP Convention, where Donald Trump will receive the formal nomination, is set to take place in Milwaukee during the week of July 15. Law enforcement agencies are already sounding the alarm, showing that radical extremists could attempt to attack it.

Protests are to be expected from leftists, but this could easily escalate into terrorist attacks. Intimidation tactics against Republicans are expected to take place, which is why the Secret Service will be stepping up its protective sweeps in Milwaukee. CNN says:

The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next week could be an “attractive” target for violent extremists or other people looking to sow chaos by disrupting a high-profile political event, according to a threat assessment from federal agencies and the Milwaukee Police Department obtained by CNN.

This election season has seen a “resurgence in disruptive tactics targeting election symbols” that are very likely meant to “instill fear and disrupt operations at election-related critical infrastructure facilities,” according to the assessment. The report was prepared by the FBI, US Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security, and Wisconsin state and city law enforcement officials. Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis distributed the assessment to federal, state and local officials in recent days.

Democrats are also expected to face protests from their radical fringe, especially over the issue of Gaza. The convention will take place the week of August 19 in Chicago, a hotbed of leftist agitators. Politico continues:

A coalition of pro-Palestinian groups also plan to protest the DNC, whether or not the city of Chicago grants them a permit. In April, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said people would be allowed to protest as long as it remained safe for convention-goers.

“Where we have concerns is if those potential demonstrations turn violent, and then appropriate action would be taken. But we certainly welcome people to come out and be able to express their First Amendment rights,” Cheatle said.

The true test of America’s resolve will be if violent extremists will be relentlessly prosecuted as the January 6 protesters were, and if this will inaugurate an election season steeped in a climate of fear. Under a Biden Presidency, anything is possible.
