An 80 year old Trump supporter was violently attacked for placing signs. The assailant had previously knocked over and removed the signs, leading the man to place them back. As he was doing so, the assailant ran him over with his ATV.

The extent of his injuries are unknown, but caused the attacker to confess to the police. When they arrived at his residence, they found that he had committed suicide. The NY Times says:

An act of political violence in a small Michigan town left an 80-year-old man in critical condition over the weekend, local officials said. His assailant, who called the police to confess, later killed himself.

The attack unfolded on Sunday evening in Hancock, a city in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, when a man ripped out yard signs supporting former President Donald J. Trump. He then used an all-terrain vehicle to run over the 80-year-old who was trying to put the signs back up, the local authorities said.

The attack has been raising the alarm for conservatives following the attempted assassination on Donald Trump. It also brings back memories of attacks on Trump supporters over the last ten years, including the assassination attempts on Republican lawmakers in Alexandria in 2017. The Guardian says:

That man later contacted officers, told them he wanted to “confess a crime involving an ATV driver within the last 24 hours” and asked to be picked up, police said in a statement. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 22-year-old man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The events in Hancock came a little more than a week after Trump survived an assassination attempt at a presidential campaign rally in Butler county, Pennsylvania, on 13 July. The gunman at the rally fatally shot a 50-year-old Trump supporter, former fire chief Corey Comperatore, while the former president was wounded on one of his ears.

With Harris now running for President instead of Biden, these attacks might continue or subside based on how much of a chance Democrats feel they have to win legitimately.
