The Democrat Mayor for Oakland, California, is facing warrant searches from the FBI on several of her properties. Shang Tao is suspected of accepting unauthorized campaign funds which may or may not have been used to line her own pockets.
Oakland is one of California and America’s worst crime ridden cities. In N Out Burger, one of California’s iconic restaurant chains, recently shut down its Oakland branch. California’s extraordinary wealth makes any notion of poor public investments as the sole root of crime ridiculous. ABC 7 reports:
ABC7 News insider Phil Matier says that according to a law enforcement source, the location is one of four homes in Oakland where warrants have been issued and served.
An ABC7 News crew on scene said there were several unmarked vehicles at the house and agents were seen carrying boxes from the location.

Tao is facing a recall election, a more common and partly successful motion to remove delinquent officials. San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin was removed from office in 2022 using this method, following his lax on crime approach. The LA Times continues:
The search comes as Thao and Dist. Atty. Pamela Price are facing a recall election this November. The recall campaign is a response to increased crime and budgetary problems that have challenged city leaders.
Property records show that latter home is connected to Andy Duong, who also owns Cal Waste Solutions, which has been investigated over campaign contributions to Thao and other elected city officials, the Oaklandside reported.
This investigation comes as George Norcross is facing an investigation for his own fundraising practices.
