Donald Trump is hosting a rally in California this weekend, in an attempt to broaden his attacks on Democrats.
While the state is virtually guaranteed to vote for Harris, it is still home to huge numbers of Republicans who can help win. Several House districts are competitive and could vote Republicans, solidifying either support for Trump once in office or stopping Kamala’s worst excesses. The Hill says:
Former President Trump is holding a rare rally in California this weekend as the state is expected to play a central role in the fight for control of the House.
Trump’s Saturday appearance in the Democrat-held 25th Congressional District comes as Republicans are looking to maintain their hold on six competitive seats in the Golden State.
The Presidential Majority will come down to the wire, and could produce small margins. Politico continues:
But the 2020 election results could hold a clue as to why Trump’s headlining an event in Coachella. Of the current six competitive House races in the state, Trump is visiting the only one that he won four years ago.
Trump’s 2020 victory in the district currently held by GOP Rep. Ken Calvert was slim. But that’s exactly the type of race Calvert finds himself in now — a neck-and-neck contest where he needs to turn up every possible Trump vote to fend off a well-funded challenger.
Republicans are currently favored to win both the House and Senate, but all campaigns will have to be fighting until the November election.
