Trump is challenging Kamala Harris to a series of debates on ABC. This was his first public appearance since she picked her Vice-President.
Trump had already scheduled debates with Biden, but he so thoroughly defeated him that the Democrat Party had to switch him for Kamala. ABC News says:
Trump previously said he had been willing to go toe-to-toe with President Joe Biden and agreed to ABC’s first invitation issued in May.
However, after Biden dropped out of the race last month and Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee, Trump had implied he would not debate Harris on ABC.
The media was also attempting to paint Trump in a negative light by pointing their questions at irrelevant or spurious aspects. The Daily Caller reports:
The former president also addressed comments Biden made in a sit-down with CBS News concerning a potential transfer of power come January. The 81-year-old president expressed concern in an interview clip posted Aug. 7 that there would be a peaceful transfer of power if Trump won the November election.
“Of course, there’ll be a peaceful transfer. There was last time. And there’ll be a peaceful transfer. I just hope we’re going to have honest elections, that’s all,” Trump responded.
While the momentum has shifted towards Kamala, she will have to perform well at the debate to not be deflated.
