Kamala Harris is refusing to debate Trump, despite proposed terms. Prior to his destruction of the Biden campaign, Trump had agreed to more debates with the presumptive nominee.
With Harris the likely nominee, she has attempted to schedule more debates on previous terms. With a new situation, Trump is refusing to give her the same deal as Biden. Reuters says:
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump proposed to debate Democratic U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on Fox News on Sept. 4, and the Harris campaign said Trump is trying to back out of a debate that had been set to run on ABC. The rules would be similar to the first debate with President Joe Biden, who has since dropped his reelection bid, Trump said in a post, opens new tab on Truth Social late on Friday. But this time it would have a “full arena audience” and take place in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, Trump said.
Democrats are already used to the media giving them every possible advantage. A debate on Fox would even the odds and put Kamala’s record under scrutiny. Fox News continues:
The former president also noted that an ABC News debate previously scheduled against President Biden before he suspended his re-election campaign had been canceled, citing his lawsuit against that network and one of its hosts, George Stephanopoulos.
“I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”
The stock market crash that could worsen in the next few days could change the dynamics of this again. However, Kamala is still not the official nominee, which Trump might have to wait to debate her properly.
