A New State Could be in Play for Trump

Democrats are in full panic mode following a poll saying that Trump is close to Biden’s numbers in the state of New York. This is in large part thanks to his rallies he has been holding during his trial in Manhattan.

In 2022, Lee Zeldin came very close to beating Hochul, winning 46.74% of the vote. This could be a sign that New York is starting to veer towards a more Republican choice. The NY Post says:

Paterson, who also previously served as chairman of the state Democratic Party, noted that a recent Siena College poll shows the former Republican president is in “striking distance to actually winning the state of New York” — also another warning sign for Team Biden and the Democratic Party’s ticket this fall.

“This is a wake-up call to the Democratic Party, who just seems to think that you can criticize what Trump did four years ago and that that will be enough,” Paterson said on 77 WABC radio’s “The Cats Roundtable” show with host John Catsimatidis.

Trump is appealing to young workers of color, many who are suffering from the Biden economy and illegal immigration. Illegals are mostly taking jobs that are undercutting those citizens’ wages, and competing over social services. Politico continues:

The inroads Trump is seeking to make with young voters and people of color could help him tremendously in swing states. And the former president on Thursday claimed that illegal immigration is specifically harming minorities — an apparent attempt to drive a wedge between communities in a city that has absorbed thousands of recent migrants.

“These millions and millions of people that are coming into our country — the biggest impact and the biggest negative impact is against our Black population and our Hispanic population,” he said.

With Trump getting close to winning in New York, Democrats will have to put in funding to make sure they secure those states. This will move funding away from those swing states that both Biden and Trump need to win.
