Rudy Giuliani received an indictment from Arizona over the 2020 election. Rumors that Giuliani would soon be charged had been floating around, but no official papers had yet been delivered.
The indictment was served following Giuliani’s 80th birthday, which he celebrated with other top conservatives such as Steve Bannon and Roger Stone. Whether this was done for press or practical reasons is unknown, though it was likely for both. Fox News says:

Giuliani political adviser Ted Goodman, however, confirmed in a statement reported by the Associated Press that Giuliani was served Friday night after his 80th birthday celebration as he was walking to the car.
Giuliani is one of 12 defendants over “fake electors” in Arizona. The charge is that he attempted to overturn the electoral results. Arizona will have to show that Giuliani was going beyond offering legal advice and trying to win the election through the courts, which is not illegal. NBC News continues:
Others indicted in the “fake electors” case are further along in their legal proceedings. On Friday morning, former Trump attorney John Eastman pleaded not guilty to charges related to an alleged conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona. Eleven other defendants are slated to be arraigned on Tuesday.
The Arizona “fake electors” scheme isn’t the only controversy Giuliani has faced in the wake of efforts to overturn the 2020 election. In December 2023, Giuliani was hit with a $148 million verdict for defaming two Georgia election workers.
Giuliani’s indictment is part of a broader, coordinated attack on conservatives during an election year. This strategy might backfire on Democrats, as the naked power grab is revealed.
