A Mississippi Democrat is sponsoring a bill that would remove Secret Service Protection from convicted felons. This is a clear targeting of President Trump, who is facing multiple persecutions by Democrats.
The mechanics of the bill make little sense. Even if Trump was guilty of all that he was accused, it would make more sense for Federal Agents to keep him safe and effectively under surveillance. Trump, as all other Presidents, has had access to national security information that ought not to fall in the hands of foreign powers. The NY Post says:
Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) on Friday introduced legislation that would strip Secret Service protection from convicted felons sentenced to prison, a bill clearly aimed at former President Donald Trump.
“Unfortunately, current law doesn’t anticipate how Secret Service protection would impact the felony prison sentences of a protectee – even a former President,” Thompson, the former chairman of the House Jan. 6 select committee, said in a statement.
Considering how January 6 defendants have been abused in the DC prison system, it would not be a far cry to imagine Donald Trump suffering a similar fate. Murders in prison are all too common and easily unsolved. Newsweek continues:
“Bennie Thompson, he wants to strip Donald Trump of Secret Service protection…that’s if he’s convicted of this crime. So he would not have Secret Service if he’s behind bars. What do you make of that?” host Jon Glasgow asked.
“That’s ridiculous, that means they want him killed because he’s obviously a target. We live in an age where everybody is in danger. Look, Bobby Kennedy ought to be getting Secret Service protection, but certainly Donald Trump needs to get Secret Service protection. He’s not going to jail, but if he goes to jail obviously the law requires Secret Service protection,” Dershowitz said.
The risk of an enemy of the United States assassinating a former President in an American is too great to leave this to chance. Trump being sent to prison, rather than facing probation or fines, would create a cataclysmic storm in American politics.
