A transgender student in Maryland was arrested following plans to conduct a school shooting. The police charged Ye with making violent threats, and they are being held at a jail pending an initial court appearance.
In their manifesto, Ye made clear that they knew the act itself would be evil. Ye had attempted to acquire a rifle to conduct the killing and “become famous.” No weapons were recovered from a search, but the manifesto Ye wrote is what tipped off former classmates about the issue. The NY Post says:
A transgender Maryland teenager has been arrested for allegedly planning a mass shooting at two schools in a twisted effort to become “famous.”
Alex Ye, 18, of Rockville, whose legal name is Andrea, was arrested Wednesday and charged with threatening mass violence after allegedly authoring a 129-page document that the suspect referred to as a “memoir,” according to ABC News.
As is the case in many instances, the transgender teen had a history of psychiatric troubles. Ye had already threatened to “shoot up a school” in the past, but was released following hospitalization. WTOP continues:
The court documents detail a long history of psychiatric treatment related to the teen’s apparent homicidal and suicidal thoughts. In December 2022, Ye was hospitalized for threatening to “shoot up a school” and was reportedly preoccupied with thoughts of self-harming, school shootings and explosives.
A few months later, Ye was hospitalized for five months at Johns Hopkins Pediatric Unit for having thoughts of killing people, according to court documents.
The threat of school shooting from unwell trans students already happened in Nashville in March 2023. The police has not been very forthcoming with sharing the motive of that shooting, though everyone suspects it was politically and religiously motivated against the Christian private school.
