DeSantis Takes Stand for Parents

Ron DeSantis has placed a limit on challenges that non-parent community members can bring against school districts and libraries. Conservatives have been challenging the inclusion of inappropriate books in school libraries that have been brainwashing children.

In turn, liberals have been flooding the state with frivolous complaints in order to shut down the system. DeSantis’ new limit ought to relive pressure on the state and focus on the true propaganda in public schools. The Miami Herald says:

A new law — signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday — will limit the number of books that can be challenged by people without children in a school district, a move the governor said will help reduce the number of frivolous challenges across the state.

Currently, any Floridian can challenge however many books they want. Starting July 1, the new law will cap the number of book challenges residents without kids in school can file to one per month, though no penalties are outlined in the law. Because those residents pay taxes, DeSantis says they should still be able to object to books even if they don’t have kids in school.

Liberals have been accusing conservatives of “book banning”, with the usual accusations of fascism and other ludicrous fantasies. This has all been to run cover for dangerous indoctrination in public schools, where transgenderism was taught to children far too young to understand. Politico reports:

State officials including DeSantis have downplayed accusations that the state is “banning” books and label the claims as a “hoax.” DeSantis and other conservatives argue the law is meant to target books that broach sensitive topics like sexuality and gender orientation — such as “Gender Queer: A Memoir” for showing sex acts and “Flamer,” which depicts young boys performing sexual acts at a summer camp. School boards should use “common sense” in considering book objections, according to DeSantis.

“The idea that a parent sending their kid to school should have to worry about some of the garbage that we’ve seen out there put into their school system, no you shouldn’t have to worry about that as a parent,” DeSantis said Monday at an event in Pensacola. “You should rest assured, send your kid to first grade — they are not going to be told they are born in the wrong body. In Florida, that is not going to happen.”

DeSantis’ vital actions prove that politics matter especially at the local level. While conservatives need to capture federal power, the hard work done at the state and local level has been more transformative for every day families.
