Conservative Leader Persecuted by Senate

Leonard Leo, a key leader in the conservative movement, has refused a Democrat subpoena before the Senate. This is a critical moment in ending the persecution of conservative judges by liberal activists.

Leo is the head of the Federalist Society, the chief supporter of originalist judges. A media hit job led by Pro Publica has accused Originalist judges of being corrupt, despite similar evidence pointing towards liberal justices. The Washington Post reports:

The Senate Judiciary Committee sent a subpoena Thursday to conservative judicial activist Leonard Leo as part of a months-long inquiry into undisclosed gifts to Supreme Court justices and he promptly rejected it, calling the move “politically motivated.”

“I am not capitulating to his lawless support of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and the left’s dark money effort to silence and cancel political opposition,” Leo said of Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the committee’s chairman, in a statement to The Washington Post.

This is another part of Joe Biden’s growing use of federal power to coerce conservatives into silence. Democrats hope to circumvent the restrictions on their policies placed by judges by removing them and installing their own puppets. Fox News continues:

“By selectively targeting Mr. Leo for investigation on a politically charged basis, while ignoring other potential sources of information on the asserted topic of interest who are similarly situated to Mr. Leo but have different political views that are more consistent with those of the Committee majority, your inquiry appears to be political retaliation against a private citizen in violation of the First Amendment,” Rivkin previously wrote to the committee.

Leo and his legal team have also pointed out that trips taken by former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and money received by late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg have not resulted in inquiries from the committee.

The independence of the Judiciary is a key foundation for American liberties. Securing it requires hard work from people like Mr. Leo. If the Biden regime successfully suppresses the Federalist Society, America will be without checks on growing Federal power.
