Rep. Lauren Boebert went to the hospital over a blood clot. The 37 year-old was diagnosed with a condition which limits her blood flow, putting her at risk of cardiovascular problems.

Boebert underwent a successful surgery. Her return date to Congress is unknown yet, which means the Republican razor-thin margin will be even thinner. CBS says:

Rep. Lauren Boebert was taken to a Colorado hospital after experiencing severe swelling in one of her legs on Monday, her campaign team said in a statement on Tuesday night. Doctors found a blood clot, and the congresswoman was diagnosed with May-Thurner Syndrome.

On Tuesday morning, Boebert underwent surgery to remove the clot and insert a stent. Her team says the surgery was successful. Doctors at UCHealth Medical Center in Loveland say she’s expected to make a full recovery and don’t expect any long-term health effects.

This is a particularly difficult time for Boebert to have to deal with this new diagnosis. Having being redistricted, she is running for Ken Buck’s old district which has already been vacated. This makes the upcoming election difficult for her to win, as a special election will be occurring before. Fox News continues:

The news comes as Boebert gears up for a third term in Congress, although she will not be seeking re-election to the state’s 3rd District, which she narrowly won in 2022.

Instead, she is vying for the more GOP-friendly 4th District, which was represented by Rep. Ken Buck, a Republican, from 2015 until his resignation on March 22.

Boebert has been a key ally for Donald Trump, along with Margery Taylor Greene. Her potential loss in the House would be a blow to him. Trump is also expected to gain a more MAGA Republican caucus by November regardless of if he wins or loses the election.
