George Santos, former Republican Congressman who was expelled last year, is announcing that he is running for Congress. Santos stated that no MAGA conservatives were running in his part of the state, making it necessary to get back in the race.

Santos was exposed as a serial liar, fabricating large parts of his resume. Additionally, he has allegedly been engaging in fraud, which brought the attention of the Department of Justice on him. Yahoo News continues:

Expelled New York Congressman George Santos — who made a surprise appearance at the State of the Union — announced he is running for office again in 2024.

“New York hasn’t had a real conservative represent them since I left office arbitrarily, thanks to RINO, empty suits like @nicklalota,” Mr Santos wrote on X. “He is a willing to risk the future of our majority and the future of this country for his own political gain.”

Santos was also at the State of the Union as a guest of Matt Gaetz. Santos did blame some Republicans for expelling him, at a time when GOP had a slim majority. ABC News reports:

Disgraced former Republican Rep. George Santos arrived in the House chamber on Thursday night about an hour before President Joe Biden’s speech was to begin about three months after he became the first House member to be expelled in more than 20 years.

He was seen seated on the GOP side near the aisle — his normal position when he was a voting lawmaker.

George Santos is sure to get a lot of Democrat attention with this. Winning his seat back, however, will be much more difficult. Already in a blue district, his own legal trouble will likely turn many away from him.
