A new poll shows Biden losing against Trump across the board. Nationwide, Trump now holds a 5 point edge over Biden, clocking 48% of support compared to Biden’s 43.%

Biden’s support is low due to his economic performance and foreign policy failures. His personal health issues and impression as lacking energy are also major factors for low enthusiasm within his own camp. The Democrat division over Palestine is also another major factor of Biden’s low support. The NY Times reports:

President Biden is struggling to overcome doubts about his leadership inside his own party and broad dissatisfaction over the nation’s direction, leaving him trailing behind Donald J. Trump just as their general-election contest is about to begin, a new poll by The New York Times and Siena College has found.

With eight months left until the November election, Mr. Biden’s 43 percent support lags behind Mr. Trump’s 48 percent in the national survey of registered voters.

Particularly dangerous for Biden is his score among Hispanic voters. The gap between Trump and Biden is actually greater within that demographic group than the nation as a whole, while Democrats have long expected Hispanics to support them. Fox News says:

Between candidates Biden and Trump, 46% of Hispanics who responded to the poll said they would vote for Trump, while 40% said they would support Biden. That’s a big difference from Biden’s 2020 general election support from Hispanics. Biden won 59% of the Hispanic vote to Trump’s 38% that year, according to Pew Research.

Among all respondents who took part in the survey New York Times/Siena poll, Trump also leads Biden, with 48% saying they would vote for him and 43% insisting they would vote for Biden.

Trump’s biggest obstacle remains his court cases. Should he be convicted of a felony, he could lose a portion of independents that he needs to defeat Biden. However, Democrat prosecutors and judges could overextend themselves in some of these legal cases and cause a backlash.
